WATSONVILLE, CA— Continuing to maintain her edge in the race for California’s 30th State Assembly District seat, today Watsonville Mayor Pro-Tem Karina Cervantez Alejo won the sought-after support of AFSCME Council 57, a powerful area labor organization.
In announcing their recommendation of Watsonville Mayor Pro-Tem Karina Cervantez Alejo for State Assembly District 30, AFSCME Council 57 President Cynthia McCabe released the following statement:

An affiliate of the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees, AFSCME Council 57 represents over 25,000 members of 23 locals representing workers in counties, cities, and special districts throughout Northern California and the Central Valley, as well as the State health and social service professionals of BU 19 who work in all 58 of California’s counties. Their members work in county health and human service agencies, provide mental health services at the state and local level, and ensure the public safety working as 911 dispatchers, probation officers, and trial court employees.
