WATSONVILLE, CA— Reflecting her wide-ranging support, today Watsonville Mayor Pro-Tem Karina Cervantez Alejo locked down a formidable endorsement from Clean Water Action in her campaign for State Assembly District 30.
According to their mission statement on the organization’s website, Clean Water Action aims, “To protect our environment, health, economic well-being and community quality of life. Clean Water Action organizes strong grassroots groups and coalitions, and campaigns to elect environmental candidates and to solve environmental and community problems.”
Watsonville Mayor Pro-Tem Karina Cervantez Alejo, who serves as Governor Jerry Brown’s appointee on the Central Coast Regional Water Quality Control Board, released the following statement upon learning of the endorsement:
“I’m really grateful for this endorsement from Clean Water Action. In the Assembly, I’ll work tirelessly to increase access to clean and safe drinking water for all communities, because fundamentally I believe access to water is a basic human right. I’ll also strive to step up water conservation efforts, from increasing our use of water-efficient technologies in buildings to monitoring watering at local parks, all while investing more in our water storage and infrastructure such as the Salinas Valley Interlake Tunnel Project to increase our long-term water supply while creating much needed jobs. I look forward to joining forces with Clean Water Action in my campaign and beyond.”
