In response to the endorsement, Watsonville Vice-Mayor Karina Cervantez Alejo released the following statement:
“Planned Parenthood has been a strong voice for the needs of women across the state of California by providing much needed healthcare services for women of all ages. I have been a strong supporter of their mission and will continue to fight on behalf of women in the Assembly. Throughout my time as a youth mentor, I saw firsthand the preventive care and services that Planned Parenthood provides, and in the Assembly I will fight to ensure that these services are available to women of all backgrounds and that these women have the right to make their own personal healthcare decisions.”
